Creating and sharing Art is more important in today’s society than it ever has been before. Modern society allows us to be more involved in the arts than in the past. I think that the secret to art in the modern age is our current level if technology. Modern technology gives us more time to be a part of the arts. The current level of technology makes it easier for us to survive than ever. In most of the world food is readily available and it is fairly easy to get medical attention. In the past, people had to go and hunt for or grow their own food and it was a lot harder to find a capable doctor. Today, with all these things easily obtainable, people are living longer with more free time than ever. I believe that a crucial part of art is sharing what you create and putting yourself out there. Modern day social media makes that more possible than it ever has been before; with the press of one button any piece of art can be shared with the whole world. I personally do not think that I would have ever found my art of tricking without the internet. I found my passion on Youtube, found events to meet friends on Facebook, and currently plan out training sessions on Instagram. My way of practicing art would not be the same without modern technology. I would never have met all my friends that I train with today and I likely would not even know what tricking is if I did not stumble across it on Youtube. Another aspect that makes technology the perfect tool for creating and sharing art is how easy it is to teach skills across the internet. I learned tricking on youtube. I pulled from many other arts that I was able to find specific classes for such as martial arts and parkour, but the moves that blend these arts I taught myself through online tutorials. None of this would be possible without the internet. For me what defines art in the modern age is how we use technology to spread art. Whether it is teaching arts online or simply uploading art to share with others, the digital age has change the way we create and consume art.
