Humanity Would Not be the Same Without Art

For me, art is the act of expressing oneself through
creation. It does not matter if the energy used is large or small, if the time
spent is 1 minute or 10 hours, or if the end product is a physical object that
can be held in the hand or not. I believe that the determining factor that
defines something as art is if the action is done as a means of self
expression. Art gives us a way to universally communicate and has the ability
to bridge the gaps between cultures. I believe that art is crucial for cross
culture communication. Art has no barriers to separate people from each other
like traditional language. I personally have met so many people from all over
the world through my art. My art has given me an instant connection and
friendship with more people than I can count. Most of which I never would have
met otherwise. The community that I have found a home in is full of positivity and collectively pushing ourselves to be the best we can, and my life
personally would be very different if I did not have my art as an outlet. The
community that I am a part of has made me realize the personally growth that
van be achieved through practicing art. Art allows for those who practice it to
create something positive with their emotions that they may not completely
understand and turn what might feel like something negative into art by channeling
their emotions. I know many people who, like me, use art as their escape away
from their daily struggles to let themselves mentally recover and takes some
time to step back and view life from a new perspective. I personally find that retreating
into my art is the best way for me to see an issue in my life in a new light
and from my conversations with others I know that I am not alone. I believe
that art is part of what makes someone a human. I think that the best way to
describe art is productive expression, and that expression is a fundamental part
of being a human. Without expression someone might as well be a robot with no
emotions. This means that without art humanity is either robotic and productive
or completely hedonistic and destructive which would result in a drastically
worse world than the one we live in today.
Hi Josh, my name is Ireland. I agree very deeply with one of the common themes you have throughout this post. I too think that artistic expression and humanity are fused on a very integral level, and because of that it is an extremely useful tool when it comes to self expression. Also the idea of a world without art seems cold and pathetic, almost lifeless to me.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea you share here about art being universal. I agree that one of the coolest things about art is how accessible it is. The fact that all of us- people of any language, age, etc.- can engage with art on some level is a really wonderful thing.
