I think a positive growth mindset is a necessity when receiving feedback; Without it the feedback goes completely to waste. For me, a positive growth mindset is about taking the best you can out of any criticisms and using it to better yourself. It is about being humble and hearing out people’s advice before you judge it. It is also about having an open mindset that allows you to experience and learn new things. This is an extremely important thing for anyone that ever wants to improve themselves, which is most people. Being open to new ideas allows you to look at the world in a different way. When you do this you may end up wondering why you ever believed something in the first place; Something that you would never has known was wrong if you did not open your mind in the past. This applied to feedback in the writing process greatly. If a student does not carry a positive growth, mindset they will never grow in their writing. Listening to feedback with a positive growth mindset is the only way to make the most of that feedback and do everything you need to in order grow the most. Making the most out of giving and getting feedback is crucial to being a good writer. With getting any feedback, a writer can become tunnel-visioned and lose view of the big picture they are trying to create in an essay. Stepping back and letting someone else read the work to see how much sense it makes allows the writer a chance to see how the essay will be read when it is finished. This can completely change the course of the work for the better, but only if they take the feedback with a positive growth mindset. Without receiving feedback properly, a writer is no different than if they never got the feedback at all.
